We are based in Lynfield and are an active Group that welcomes youth aged 6 to 18 and beyond.

Scouting provides youth with adventure and challenge. It encourages teamwork and develops the leaders of tomorrow by encouraging self-reliance and the setting and achieving of goals.

Like all Scouts, we go to camps and tramps, learn pioneering and First Aid amongst other things. As Sea Scouts, we add in watercraft activities such as sailing, canoeing and rowing. We learn the rules of the waterways and how to enjoy them safely.

Scouting is divided into Sections, enabling activities to be tailored to different age groups. Our Group has a Kea Club, a Cub Pack, a Scout Troop and a Venturer Unit — and we welcome new Leaders too!

Youth members must purchase and wear a uniform shirt which is available from Scouts Direct. We charge fees to cover costs but keep them as low as we can in order to provide good value and keep Scouting accessible. Still curious? Watch this Ted Talk about Scouting.

Western Bays Sea Scouts

Welcome to our new Website! A place where you can keep up to date with all the activities and adventures we go on.

We welcome a wide range of ages to join in the fun. Regular meetings occur during school terms, with the exception of public holidays. Cubs and Keas usually have a night off after a camping weekend as well.

We are currently looking for new additional ways to fundraise for Western Bays Sea Scouts so that we can do even more for the pack! Here is a photo of Totora cooking Sausages on one of our recent fundraising events.
